When I was younger I had a beautiful set of tarot cards and every time I did my own reading I got the empress I sent stopped doing tarot card readings because it's against the Bible but the other day I found a necklace charm with a imprint of the empress on it and I thought it was absolutely magical but a little bit Eerie because I've always Associated myself with that card because I always got that card I'm a very loving person and I love nature and I think that's why I found this is so weird

I was back here because I was thinking about 10 of Cups, and was looking for how others view the card. And I'm thinking maybe trying to define it as a good or bad symbol is not so well. Because why can't it be both? Golden Dawn and Crowley both say this is permanent and lasting success, but at its core its an overflow of emotion. Elation. If you're elated, something notably worth talking about has happened. Yet, as great as the feeling is, that cannot be maintained, even if what gave you those emotions is maintained. You got everything you wanted... now what? Maybe you didn't think that far ahead, maybe you did. But it certainly becomes something else as the tens are wont to do. It's kinda giving that emotion where you had such fun doing a thing, but now that thing is over. Party's over, time to go home, that bitter sweet feeling when your favorite TV show ends, or you finish a video game. But if you try to maintain that joy forever it leads to a deterioration, of yourself or the thing you found joy in. That ties into Crowley calling it evocative of a drug addict. It's not so happy because it's the end, but maybe the end is more truly happy than were you to keep chasing that high.

I think the 7s have always been very negative cards in post Golden Dawn tarot especially. I think for some odd reason, modern readers wanted to see the 7s as more positive. So framed them more around their dependence on outside force to overcome their weakness, shifting away from that inherent weakness. 7 of Disks in Crowley’s terms is Failure. But modern readers will read it with a positive spin, where to get something you need to put alot of work in. And you might be very tired in the end. Which is how you overcome Failure.

I wholly agree Waite was implicitly suggesting the true offices of the courts, but I have no doubt because the evidence is how he depicts the kings, or should I say the princes On all save the king of cups he has included the beasts which would normally pull their chariots, but rather than as actual animals, has slipped them in as iconography the uninitiated would glance over without a second thought. Pentacles has a stone bull head Swords has butterfly winged sylphs carved into his throne Wands has a tapestry embroidered with the figure of a lion And even cups, although less on the nose, does have a fish leaping out of the water. This is more than enough evidence for me, because he’s suggesting their true offices hidden under the veneer of their classical titles. Waite was very passionate about upholding the secrecy of his practice after all. It is for this reason I argue that the actual order of their titles is Knight = Yod Queen = Heh King = Vav Page = Heh And I do argue they are the same system, Waite has only buried it. And I 100% agree with Waite’s Kings as air for this reason.

I knew I read something very cool about Judgement the other day and I finally found where I read it So Robert Wang, together with Regardie, released The Golden Dawn Tarot deck in ‘78 And in the accompanying book, which was largely just a transcription of the Golden Dawn methods of divination, he writes alot of detail on the major arcana And on Judgement he says, quote: “To the uninitiated eye it apparently represents the Last Judgement, with an angel blowing a trumpet and the Dead rising from their tombs - but its meaning is meaning is far more occult and recondite than this, for it is a glyph of the powers of Fire.” And then goes on to identify all the figures. The Angel being Michael, the snake that appears in the sky as well in some golden Dawn decks, being a depiction of Seraphim. The left figure being Samael, “lord of Volcanic Fire” The right figure being Anael, “Lord of the Astral Light” And the central figure being Arel “Lord of Latent Heat” and these three lower figures are overlayed with the letter Shin. So that the whole picture is an image of Solar fire calling upon the complete power of fire, thus representing what it does. A moment of definitive action. I just thought that was really a really neat framing of it I hadn’t seen before. I don’t own the deck this is from, but I read a blog post which talked about it and was blown away.

Crowley did write that in divination Justice can refer to human sense of Justice, law, and legal proceedings, merely that the symbol is grander than that, regarding the suspended force prior to action. I enjoy picturing it as this. You know when you throw up an object, and at the height of its arch it pauses before falling? Or a pendulum at the height of its swing? That brief moment is Justice. The pause between cause and effect, that restrained potential energy. And in a lesser sense, that is what we’re doing when using judgement, restrained and directed will with the aim of proceeding with an appropriate response. Basically you need not be restrained by reading Justice so one dimensionally, but not to throw out its connection to human ideas wholesale. Especially in divination. That’s how I like framing it anyways.

The Haindl tarot is my choice deck scince 2002. It is very complex, I like the ecological theme. It is more complex than the Thoth in that it uses all 64 I Ching hexagrams, runes, elements border colors on the majors, and the court cards depart from tradition with using different cultures for the four suits. Egyptian mythology for the swords, mixed northern European for cups, Native American for stones, and Hinduism for the wands. A rich, technical, beautiful and unique deck.

I like his framing of Geburah as motion because it makes sense. Classically, Traditionally, it’s power, God’s will exerted as a definite act, possibly destructive. It’s juxtaposed to the very inert but safe Chesed. It makes sense to call it a sort of applied energy, and that’s relevant to tarot because just look at the 5s. They’re all kind of energy, disrupting that which dares to be still.

My view on Crowley is yeah, he was pretty yikes of a person. But you know, death of the author and all that. And I think he's at least worth reading about, just as much as any other of the plethora of questionable historical figures.

yes, this is how Tarot originated, as symbols to carry forth the knowledge of the Tree of Life. They were meant to be meditated upon to open certain centers of consciousness in the brain, not for divination. That evolved from it, but not the original intention of its creation. Thanks for explaining this for others to see, its not just for divination.
